While at Razorfish, I worked as part of a cross-functional team to design and build a mobile insurance claims application for Gallagher Bassett. The objective was to modernize an existing, fragmented system and transform it into a cohesive digital experience. The new application needed to support both claimants and administrators, delivering clarity, consistency, and efficiency across the entire claims lifecycle.
Designing Mobile First
From the outset, the experience was designed mobile-first.
We explored multiple UX and UI interaction models through extensive wireframing, testing how different flows and patterns influenced usability and overall feel. The final approach leaned into a clean, modern visual language supported by purposeful motion. Transitions were designed to feel natural and intuitive, reinforcing the interface rather than distracting from it.
The result is an experience that feels fluid, approachable, and easy to navigate during moments when users may already be under stress.
Menu Design & UX Exploration
A key requirement from the client was to appeal to a younger, more digitally native audience.
To support this, we explored several navigation patterns before landing on a centered, circular menu design. Positioned low on the screen, the menu remains easily accessible across increasingly large mobile devices, supporting one-handed use and reducing reach friction.
This approach provided persistent access to core actions while maintaining a clean, uncluttered interface.
The Feed & Native Interaction Patterns
The application was designed to feel both new and familiar.
We leaned into established mobile behavior patterns to create confidence and ease of use. At the center of the experience is a home feed built around a chronological timeline of claim activity. Users are presented with the most relevant updates first, mirroring the way information is consumed in everyday mobile apps.
By aligning with native interaction expectations, the experience feels intuitive while still delivering the structure and clarity required for an insurance claims workflow.
