While working at Razorfish, I had the opportunity to be involved in being a part of a team that was tasked to build a new CMS Website for Eaton Electric. The objective of the project was to take an already existing system, and transform the experience and digitize it so that they would be able to update it more frequently with company news, so that it was on consistent and concise experience for both the end user and the admin user.
Creating design systems using components
Designing the Eaton website was both a challenge and a success at the same time. The client wanted a new site that they could update on their own when they had new information to share with not only the public, but also with their share holders. We approached this challenge with implementing the site on a Content Management Platform. In this instance we used AEM to achieve the final build.
Product design and telling a story
Another thing the client was the ability to display product offerings that they had. The only issue was that they didn’t want a fully stood up e-commerce for this, but to simply show the products off and tell a compelling story around it and its use case. We achieved this by inserting story points in the browse while scrolling through the product offering available.
The feed, and native integration
We wanted to build something that felt new and fresh but still familiar to the user. We did this by establishing certain type of mobile expectancies through out the site experience. One of those items, was “The Feed” on the products pages. The site focused around a timeline of events, and we wanted the user to be presented the items happening now and in chronological order, much like they would receive updates on all their favorite apps.
