Modernizing the Apple Health Web Experience

As Apple evolved its internal content management platform, the existing Apple Health web experience needed to evolve with it. I led design efforts to modernize the platform, updating legacy design patterns, building new modular components, and establishing a scalable system capable of supporting rich healthcare product storytelling. The result was a refreshed experience that aligned with Apple’s latest CMS capabilities while creating a flexible foundation for future content growth.

The Challenge

The existing platform was built on aging design patterns that limited flexibility, slowed content publishing, and made it difficult to tell cohesive product stories across healthcare initiatives. Apple’s rollout of a new internal CMS created an opportunity to rethink the experience from the ground up. The challenge was to modernize the system without disrupting existing content pipelines, while introducing new components and design standards that could scale across teams and product areas.

Design Approach

I approached the project through a systems lens. First, I audited existing components, layouts, and content structures to identify friction points and gaps. From there, I defined updated design principles aligned with Apple’s current web standards, accessibility requirements, and editorial needs. The focus was on building a modular component library that could support flexible storytelling, accelerate publishing workflows, and maintain visual consistency across the platform.

Execution

Working in close partnership with product, engineering, and editorial teams, I designed and implemented a refreshed component system tailored to Apple’s new CMS architecture. New modules were created to support healthcare product narratives through flexible layouts, responsive behavior, and clear typographic hierarchy. Legacy components were refined or replaced to improve usability, accessibility, and performance. The resulting system allowed content teams to build rich pages faster, while ensuring every experience remained cohesive and on brand.

Impact

The updated platform streamlined publishing workflows, reduced reliance on custom development, and enabled faster rollout of new healthcare content initiatives. Visual consistency improved across pages and devices, while the new component system created a scalable foundation aligned with Apple’s evolving CMS roadmap. Most importantly, the redesigned experience made it easier to tell meaningful product stories that connect technology and healthcare in a clear, human way.
