As part of a conceptual product exploration, I designed a mobile application experience for Kellogg’s focused on modernizing how consumers discover recipes and access offers. The objective was to move coupons from a primarily print-based model into a digital, mobile-first experience that better aligned with evolving consumer behavior. At the same time, the app aimed to elevate Kellogg’s role in everyday cooking moments by connecting inspiration, planning, and purchasing into a single, cohesive experience.
Reimagining Recipes and Rewards in a Mobile-First Experience
Designing for Cooking and Shopping in Context
The experience was designed to support users across multiple moments, from meal inspiration to in-store decision-making.
Recipes, shopping considerations, and offers were thoughtfully connected through a clean, intuitive UI. Sliding menus and progressive disclosure were used to surface actions without overwhelming the user, allowing quick access to recipes, coupons, and related content when needed.
This approach helped the app feel supportive and efficient, whether a user was browsing at home or referencing it on the go.
Leveraging Integrated Data for Personalization
A core consideration was how the application could leverage existing Kellogg’s data to deliver timely, relevant value.
The concept assumed integration with internal data sources to populate the experience with current deals, seasonal offers, and product recommendations. Personalization was key, messaging and content were designed to adapt to individual preferences and behaviors, creating an experience that felt tailored rather than generic.
Designing the User Experience
With limited existing assets available, the project required designing both the visual interface and the underlying UX model from scratch.
This meant defining interaction patterns, content hierarchy, and system behaviors alongside visual design. The result is an experience that feels familiar and approachable, while still introducing a more modern, digital-first way to engage with recipes and rewards.
As a conceptual exercise, the project provided a strong foundation for exploring how a legacy food brand could evolve its digital presence to better serve contemporary user needs.
